A NEIGHBORHOOD MAN

A neighborhood man I had seen before
Was knocking one morning on my front door.
He heard that Jesus would really return,
And that his salvation he could not earn.

I told him I loved him --- Jesus did, too.
And what he had heard was certainly true.
I told him I'd show him just what He said
Before that sad day when His blood was shed.

I reached for my bible and heard him sigh,
And now there was formed a tear in his eye;
He then mentioned a girl who just last week
Had tried to lead him --- her Jesus to seek.

Another good saint had planted a seed,
And now this sinner was soon to be freed;
He knelt on the sidewalk and bowed his head,
And then he uttered this prayer by me led.

He said, "Dear Jesus, I know I've done wrong;
I have been a lost sinner much too long.
Forgive me now Lord, and build me a home,
From which I need never, nevermore roam.

"I know you can save all those who believe,
And now it is You I want to receive.
I know I can't clean my own sins away -
I trust you to do this for me today.

"And now dear Jesus, I'm ready to go,
Though just where it is I don't really know.
I know that your heaven will be just grand ---
Better than places in this earthly land.

"I'll live there as long as you are there too,
For what's in the bible really is true.
I don't deserve it but heaven I'll see;
I'll share your glory for eternity.

"Right now I'll tell others what you will do
If they will repent and come unto you.
We'll function together as a real team,
Reaching lost sinners who think they're not seen.

"Thank you dear Jesus, for you have heard me,
Begging forgiveness so rich and so free.
Of your sweet gospel, others will I tell,
Knowing my destiny should have been hell."

AIR OR THERE

When we arrive
At heaven's gate,
We'll see our
Saviour there;

Unless He comes
Before that time,
To meet us
In the air.

AN OLD LOST MAN

I noticed a man, old and gray,
And stopped my bike that fateful day.
Leaning on a telephone pole,
He really did look very cold.

From my trunk, I pulled a sweater --
Thought it would make him feel better.
He turned my way and showed a smile;
Then I knew my act was worthwhile.

I asked if he knew where he'd be
If this night were the last he'd see:
He said he really could not tell,
But that he thought he'd be in hell.

He did not know just what to say:
He asked me if there were some way.
He knew for sure he that had sinned.
And wondered how that he might win.

I told him God had made a way --
And that he could be saved today;
He could believe what I had said;
And then he simply used his head.

It was no longer hard to see!
Against the curb, he knelt with me;
He then agreed to do his part.
To God he opened up his heart.

On this day, he let Jesus in;
This was his only way to win.
He knew Jesus had paid his fare:
So his Saviour will meet Him there.

His home is now in heav'n above
'Cause he accepted Jesus' love.
What I had told him was quite true,
For "whosoever" meant him, too.

As you ride down any street --
You cannot know just whom you'll meet.
Be ready always to witness --
Give to your Lord your very best.

For some lost soul might just be there,
In need of guidance you could share.
Remember that the fields are white,
So do your part to win the fight.

ONLY ONE WAY

We enter life as sinners, true;
We're on our way to hell.
We think we're headed for the promised land,
But "No," the Bible tells.

We hear of Christ born as a child,
And think of Him that way;
But He grew up to tell us of our need:
Except by Him, there is no way.

We may think that doing good deeds
And heeding the golden rule
Leads us to that heavenly realm,
But we are only fools.

We think we'll see the pearly gates,
But sin leads us to doom.
If we accept Jesus, the only Way,
He'll make for us some room.

All men have sinned, 'tis very true,
And gone against God's rules;
But He'll forgive us for our sins,
If we'll just ask Him to.

The way is straight, narrow the gate,
That guarantees a mansion there;
Only through Jesus can we claim
A home up in the air.

For God so love the world, He made
A way to set us free:
Whoever accepts Jesus Christ
Will live eternally.

Cut Out With A Purpose

by Wanda Smith

God did not call us each to be
A cutout reproduction or assembly line facsimile
We were never fashioned so
That our uniqueness would not show
He designed us to reflect His light
To shine for Him each day and night
Christians come in every size
The shape we're in we see with eyes
But God looks on the inward part
Deep within the motives of our heart
Oh that we could see with love
The worth of each viewed from above
He is our maker, He loves us so much
And He molds us for use as we yield to His touch
He rounds off our edges and softens our lines
To fit us for service of various kinds
We each have a purpose and He fashions us so
That whatever our purpose we're certain to know
His plans they are perfect - His love it is pure
When we yield to the potter our way is secure
We can rest in assurance that by God's hand
We're shaped to perfectly fit His plan.

My First Love

Every woman's dream,
a knight in shining armour,
comforting arms,
a listening ear.
With one hand He wipes the tears,
with the other He heals the broken heart.
One gaze in his eyes
and you know.

He never tires of your endless prattle,
He laughs at all your jokes,
sounder advice, no-one else gives,
and you love him
because you know.

When you close your eyes
and "ask are you there?"
 his only answer is " I AM."
Every woman's dream,
a knight in shining Armour,
a man who would die
to save your life.
