HE SPEAKS TO ME By Janice Grogan My Lord and God speaks to me In a language yet unheard. He whispers to me gently, Yet never says a word. He tells me through the flowers That His love is always near. He reassures through sunshine That with Him there is no fear. Through the darkness and the bitter rain He cries to me for peace. I pray to Him through tears I shed That all my sins will cease. He reminds me of my being In all creatures tame and wild. I hear His voice so clearly In the laughter of my child. He tells me through the colors in the sky That I am free; That when I leave this life I know, He’ll be awaiting me. He tells me when I’m lonely That no matter where I roam, I need only look for Jesus and I’ll be not be far from home. When pain and sorrow take me And I feel the need to hide, I know that if I pray to Him He’ll keep me by His side. God tells me through His spirit That alone I’ll never be. We’ll always be together – Jesus, God and me. By Janice Grogan Cincinnati, Ohio Teasdale@prodigy.net GOD’S LANTERN By Janice Grogan I think I see God’s lantern Shining through the storm. The light seems dim because I am quite weary, sick and worn. I’ve fought the sea so long and hard, But still there is no shore. I just don’t think that I can swim Even one day more. The waves have been so rough on me; My body aches with pain. I strain my eyes to see the light Through the bitter, salty rain. Please help me God, I can’t hold on - It’s just too much to bear. Please lead me to that lantern I see shining over there. Take me in Your arms, dear Lord, And lift me from the sea. I’m ready to go home now; I hear You calling me. Dear Lord, I feel Your presence, And I know that you are here For the lantern now shines brightly, And the storm begins to clear. It’s just like You had promised, Just like I’d always read, Everlasting life with You, Just as Jesus said! The loved ones that I left behind Feel sorrow, this I know. But help them, Lord, to understand It is my time to go. Please keep my love inside the heart Of each and every one, Say good-bye for me, my Lord, My work on earth is done. Take me in Your arms, dear Lord, And lift me from the sea I’m ready to go home now; I hear You calling me. By Janice Grogan Cincinnati, Ohio teasdale@prodigy.net
The Best Friend Some people think that a friends should be Someone who hangs around or gives them money. But a friend to me is someone who cares. Someone who, no matter what, will always be there. Not some person who doesn’t care who I am. Their love to every horizon should span. A friend is someone who will give their life for you, And I have a friend like this, yes I do. He’s with me all the time, wherever I go. He cares for me, and continually let’s me know. And when I think my life is on the brink, He stretches out his hand to give me strength. He says, "Just come to me when you are in pain, I’ll give you peace and ease the strain." His name is Jesus, a great friend of mine, Because he loves me and for me he died. And while he was dying, while time stood still, He thought of you and me, and he always will. And when I think about how he gave his life for me, I say, "Jesus, please tell me how it can be, That you hung on a cross for me that day?" And there’s not much else that I can say, Except, "Thank you Jesus for saving me, You truly are the best friend there ever could be." Anonymous
